Partnerships

No serious mission is built alone.

The Institute is seeking listening relationships and bounded design conversations with organisations that can test the need, challenge the model and help define useful work. Partnership status begins only with mutual written agreement.

References to sectors, organisations or international programmes describe context and intended engagement. They do not imply affiliation, endorsement, procurement, funding or partnership.

01

Routes

Five ways to enter the conversation.

  1. 01

    Research and universities

Challenge the agenda, lead reviews, propose questions, identify evidence gaps and define work that belongs in established institutions.

  2. 02

    Missions and agencies

Clarify real user needs, standards, interfaces, mission timelines and the maturity required before a contribution is useful.

  3. 03

    Industry

Bring technology, integration, operations and commercial evidence to tightly scoped feasibility or demonstrator work.

  4. 04

    Education and civic networks

Co-design access, safeguarding, public deliberation and progression routes that are credible across Scotland.

  5. 05

    Philanthropy and mission-aligned funding

Support independent discovery, public benefit or high-risk evidence work with transparent restrictions and no purchase of scientific conclusions.

02

Engagement ladder

Use the right word for the relationship that exists.

  1. 01

    Listening

A conversation or response that informs understanding. It creates no obligation, endorsement or future access.

  2. 02

    Contributor

A named person or organisation provides defined input under agreed attribution, confidentiality and conflict terms.

  3. 03

    Collaborative design

Parties jointly shape a bounded question or proposal, with no implication that the resulting work is approved or funded.

  4. 04

    Partner

A mutual written agreement defines scope, responsibilities, authority, resources, claims and exit rights.

  5. 05

    Delivery partner

A funded or otherwise resourced agreement gives named parties responsibility for specific outputs and acceptance evidence.

Logos, quotes and partner language will not be published without explicit permission covering the exact use.

03

First conversation

Bring a problem, an evidence gap or a hard objection.

The most useful opening message explains the mission or public need, why the Institute may be relevant, what evidence already exists, what must remain confidential and what a good next decision would look like.

A focused thirty-minute discovery conversation is more valuable than an undefined request to collaborate. If the fit is weak, the right outcome may be a referral, a documented hold or a clear no.

Help build the next decision, not just the next headline.
